Local Mechassault Tourney Announced - Prize Update

Beaverton, OR. 4-29-2K3 Come one, come all.....To the first Northwest Region Mechassault Tourney. Compete for Prizes in an all morning event at Sandy Cinema 8, recently featured on FOX Network. Prizes include Authentic Xbox type S Contoller, Xbox T-Shirt, Movie Passes and 1st run movie posters and all the pop and snacks you can consume. Additionally, 1st and 2nd place Winners will be Entered into the next Halo Tournament the following month. Space is limited to the first 16 players with 8 alternates. Entry Fee per match is $4.75 and you can pre-register by calling Stacy at the Sandy Cinema 8 (503-826-1208). Tourney will start @ 8:30 AM Sharp and all pre-registered entrants must arrive no later than 5 minutes before 1st round before alternates will be confirmed to play. Then they plan on testing your skills , with three other Xbox live (tm) games . Winners will be labeled the champ of Clone Wars . Winners of elimination rounds will be able to win a trip , to the E3 convention in L.a.. Then the semi finalists will have to fight their way through Return to Castle wolfenstein and Midnight Club 2 , for the bragging rights . Silicon Valley, CA. 4-22-2K3. Xbox Live competition gives gamers chance to win free trip to E3 trade show and a surround sound home theater system.

Microsoft today announced an exciting online opportunity for gamers to compete and win an all-expense paid trip to Los Angeles where they’ll battle for the Ultimate Championship crown.

To be victorious in this tournament players must excel at three games, Star Wars®: The Clone Wars™ from LucasArts, id Software’s Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Tides of War™ from Activision and Midnight Club II by Rockstar Games. The action begins on April 22 with gamers playing Star Wars: The Clone Wars; the epic conflict that puts a gamer in the role of a Jedi Knight in over 30 unique combat units. Star Wars: The Clone Wars goes on sale April 22 at retailers across the United States and Canada.

On April 28, Microsoft will look to the Xbox Live leader board to select the top 64 Star Wars: The Clone Wars scores and gamers. From there, the heat intensifies as these players engage in one-on-one single elimination games until May 9. The top four players from these competitions will receive a free trip and accommodations to demonstrate their skills at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles from May 14-16.

Wednesday, May 14 marks the onset of Round two of the competition, where the top four gamers from round one will compete in the center of the Xbox arena (Booth 1246) in the South Hall of E3 in a fierce team battle featuring Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Tides of War. id Software’s Xbox exclusive, Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Tides of War, is a first-person action game that features World War II battles and heart-stopping encounters with unrelenting Nazi henchmen and legions of the undead. E3 will serve as the battleground, as the final four contestants split into pairs and team together with a few special guests for intense squad-based multiplayer action to determine the two finalists.

On Thursday the tournament culminates and the last two gamers standing from Wednesday will play Midnight Club II by Rockstar Games in the final round. The Ultimate Championship crown, a surround sound home theater system, and Xbox Live bragging rights are all up for grabs. Midnight Club II moves racing games from tracks to the city streets. The most notorious drivers meet each night in three of the world’s greatest cities - LA, Paris, and Tokyo, driving the latest performance enhanced cars and bikes and competing head-to-head in the hopes of making a name for themselves.

In order to compete in the first round of the tournament and possibly win a trip to E3 contestants will need an Xbox Live subscription and a copy of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Tides of War ships just prior to E3, and Midnight Club II does not ship to retail until just after E3 so the Ultimate Championship tournament will be the first time gamers will have ever laid hands on the highly anticipated game.

Beaverton, OR. 3-19-2K3. Here is a pic, rather bad one, from the last meetup on 3-11. We welcomed WhiteCollie to the group. We discussed having a local lan party after the next Meetup scheduled for 4-8-2k3 and I reported on a new idea taking shape out in Sandy Oregon at the Sandy Cinemas. I visited there yesterday and met with Stacy-the Tourney Director and have put into place a sposorship for these events. XBoxNow will cover the events as well and report back to the readers the frontline coverage, pictures and Winners announcments. Keep checking back for new information about future tourneys as this is going to be a fantastic venure into Full Emersion Gameplay. Any Local Xbox-Meetup, AN, H2R or HSS members are welcome to come to this First Time Event.

Next Xbox-Meetup Confirmed for 3-11-2K3

If your from the Portland or surrounding areas, check it out and sign up on Xbox-Meetup for future gatherings. During this meetup, I will propose a Tournament for the members and Online Meetup members and what we can do to get one scheduled for around the first of March. Xbox-Meetup Scheduled for 2-11-2K3

The meetup will take place as usual on the second Tuesday of each month. The venue hasent been voted on yet but were getting there. In the next meeting we are hoping for a few more arrivals of new members and going to try to negotiate with Best Buy to hold Online Exhibitions and become a part of the meetup family once a month. I think we have a good chance of geting huge draws, informing people about the Xbox and its features and getting to know, "Fellow Xbox Fanatics". Greymander and myself will be there to greet anyone interested in joining our discussion group and maybe playing a few games. I am hoping to arrange a few Xbox-Mech Assault Online (Xbox Live) games with the other Best Buy stores along the West Coast failry soon and the parties are still deliberating the advantages, but in my mind, I think this would be good for everyone involved.

Directions for Hosting team: When the hosting team setups up the room for play, the Title (Or Room Description) should be as shown below Game type is the room number listed in Blue on the Tournament Matchup Roster. I will post a text version Below these instructions as well.

Example - This is for Master Fraggers(14) and Rebels w/o cause(5) - First Round Play

Room Description : XbN Tournament Play - Round 1

Max Players - 3 or 4

Game type - Enter Room number assigned to match COLOR on Tournament Roster/Leaderboard

When the matches are done. Combine the scores and report below.

Final scores are to be Emailed to Scorekeepers for Verification and posting to Leader Board immediately after the match. Both teams must report Blue team and Red team Score and number of kills per team member. These score must match for each teams eligibility to progress to the next round. When the results are received each winning team will be entered into the next round. Matchups may be determined by location as a secondary criteria
